If you’re a student using an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you’ll need an Apple ID.

It’s your key to downloading apps, backing up your data, using iCloud, and accessing Apple Music or Apple TV+. The good news? Signing up is quick and super simple.
And just like Amazon and Spotify, there’s some juicy student perks to take advantage of.
Let’s walk through it together!
1. What You Need Before You Start
Before creating your Apple ID, make sure you have:
- A working email address (school or personal)
- A strong password in mind
- Your birthday
- A phone number you can verify
That’s all you need!
2. Go to the Apple ID Website
On your browser, go to appleid.apple.com.
Click “Create Your Apple ID.”
If you’re using an Apple device (like an iPhone), you can also create an Apple ID during setup or in Settings.
3. Fill In Your Details
Apple will ask for:
- Your name
- Country or region
- Your birthday
- Your email
Use an email you check often—this becomes your login.
4. Create Your Password
Choose a strong password that includes:
- Uppercase letters
- Lowercase letters
- Numbers
Make sure it’s something you won’t forget but still secure.
5. Add a Phone Number
Apple requires a phone number for verification and security.
You can choose to receive a text message or phone call to confirm it.

6. Verify Your Email
Apple will send a code to your email.
Open your inbox, find the code, and type it in to continue.
7. Agree to the Terms
Read through Apple’s terms and conditions (or skim them—we all do it).
Then click Agree.
Congrats—you now have an Apple ID!
8. Start Using Your Apple ID
Once your account is ready, you can:
- Download apps from the App Store
- Use iCloud to store photos and files
